I am the author of this article. I thought it might be helpful to share a few subsequent thoughts I’ve had since I wrote it.

I feel that it’s important, in one’s relationship with God, not to become too enwrapped in the mind – bound by thoughts alone, even such ennobling ones as “I am here for three reasons only – to love God, serve His work, and live simply.”

The problem is that if one thinks in terms of formulas, the relationship with God can lose a certain spontaneity that is the essential.

Yes, we are here to love, serve, and put first things first. But let’s remember that it is an ongoing relationship. At every moment, we need to ask the Divine Mother to guide us – “Mother, show me how to behave.” “Divine Mother, I want to do this job in a way that pleases You – together with You as partners.”

That’s much more enjoyable and freeing than “following the rules.” It means that at every moment we can turn to God and ask for His help, instead of trying to figure it all out on our own. We can pray, “Show me what to do. Show me how to behave. Show me how to give your friendship, love and kindness.”

I am much inspired by this real life story. I have understood that money is not the source of happiness, but happiness comes from inside by loving God and helping others. Yes if we think more deeply with continuous attention on our inner self, we can see the connection with God. I personally feel it and I love being connected to Ananda. Even if I was able to follow a little part of these precious divine teachings, my life would really mean something. Thanks to all of you, Deepak Chib
