What a wonderful subject so dear to my heart. Why indeed
celebrate Christmas? What an injustice to something so beautiful as the spirit of Jesus Christ. Decorations, extravagant gifts and an over consumption of food. All totally unnecessary. This I do not feel would be in his favor. Goodwill gestures love and compassion, sharing, caring and giving, yes, but with humility and simplicity is the best way forward in my humble opinion to celebrate the birth of Christ; to cherish his memory; and to open our hearts to his presence and divine essence. And not sabotage this holy and special time with materialism and consumerism because when this happens all else is lost.

England is great at sabotaging this special occasion. Once when I was living in a Spanish mountain village some years ago how delighted I was to see that the supermarket made room for two extra shelves of biscuits only. So happy was I that I felt that someone, somewhere had got it right at last. How pleased I am at having the opportunity to express my deep heartfelt feelings on this precious subject. Thank you so very much. from Paula Castanyo with love.
